Writing Goals

by

I am a true believer in writing out goals every year. It has helped me out so much. Some people call these “New Year’s Resolutions.” Not for me. These are true goals and I achieve so much just because these goals give me more of a focus. They are very achievable goals. Some of them are ongoing goals like continuing my healthy diet and growing more in my connection with a higher power. Others are quick goals like finding a guitarist I could hire in order to play my songs at an open mic. It is all about taking baby steps, … I can always add or subtract from my goals during the year in order to make it more achievable. There is no hurry, especially when I always know I am taking steps towards my goal.
Many artists don’t do this - they are more likely to fly at the seat of their pants than to be as organized. It is a shame because it really does help. It also helps that I have a friend who writes out goals at the same time. We send each other our goals for the upcoming year. Then we email each other every week about our progress towards that goal along with our current obstacles and achievements.
Writing out these goals makes me more grateful. When I achieve a goal, the feeling is out of this world. I love it.
