The Rockettes
It is not a life-long dream, but I always thought that it would be cool be a rockette. I have only seen the show on tv. Last year, around Christmas time, it was on a loop on tv. This year, I have a very talented friend in the show, so I MUST attend. I am jealous and proud of my friend at the same time.
I have learned some interesting things about the show. First of all, there are two casts: the Blue and the Gold. My friend is in the blue group - what I like to call “The Channukah” group. The blue group performs two shows - one in the morning and one in the early afternoon. The gold group performs in the evenings. Apparently, they allow the audience to take pictures throughout the entire show. It’s kind of like Disney (The Magic Kingdom or World). Besides, it’s cool that I can take photos during the show. I can give them all to my friend. It’s not that often when an Equity performer can get photos of himself on stage.
Regardless, it is Broadway. My friend denies that it is broadway… but it is broadway. Plus, every tourist knows about the Rockettes. Even if doing the show was not so fantastic, I would get to call myself a Rockette. I wouldn’t mind having that title. I did hear that the rehearsals can be very difficult. Since all the girls have to be completely together, there is not room for mistakes. It has to be done precisely and the choreography/director has every right to be picky.
Man, I think it would be so cool to be a rockette. Someday …
