Tech after a Storm?
Yep! There was a huge storm here in Princeton, IL and we had no power for a very important tech rehearsal. However, as we all know, the show must go on. A kind patron lent his generator which allowed us to have lights and run our scene changes. It all worked out very well. We couldn’t do any of the lighting and the costume stuff was postponed, but I thought, given the unexpected and hardcore circumstances, we did a good job. I think stuff like that, as unfortunate as it is, makes theatre exciting. Obstacles come up and then we have to find a way to make things still work. So, I am happy.
Has this ever happened to you with a show? I wonder what kind of problems happen on broadway and what they have done to ensure that the show still went on … ?
I still don’t have power at my home, so I am at the theatre taking advantage of the wireless internet. Good times. If I wasn’t at my home, I would want to be at the theatre.
Side note - I like the idea of being in rehearsals when it is raining outside. I grew up rehearsing the Nutcracker Ballet during the winter. Many times it would be pouring outside. There is something comforting and very familiar about doing a rehearsal during bad weather.
