My Next Gig

by

Okay, I am going to share. I get to do Ghost of Christmas Past in “A Christmas Carol” this year!

I am super excited. It is another role and I get to work with wonderful people. What more could a girl ask for? Well, Broadway, of course, but I just have too many casting directors knocking on my door and I can’t make up my mind (j/k).

I have done “A Christmas Carol” before. I was in the 6th grade. I wasn’t into acting, but our class was putting on the production. I auditioned and got the role of Marley. I was thrilled. It didnt’ occur to me that it was a little odd that I was playing a man’s role. It was a chance to be the center of attention, so naturally, I was a happy girl. I spoke in a hoarse voice and yelled to be all scary. Thought there were very few lines to deliver, I memorized and rehearsed them like mad. I had so much fun!
So, now that I get to do this show and actually get paid for it, I feel like I need to be pinched. I get paid to do something I did as a child “just for fun.” Isn’t that cool?
