Informal Audition
The entire cast had the opportunity to have a formal audition with the producer of our theatre. Since I was still recovering from laryngitis, I made the wise choice of not singing my songs over and over again to be better prepared for the audition. Instead, I silently practiced the songs with movement and acting motivation a lot. I looked funny, yes, but I had to get my work in somehow. The audition was not my very best because I did not get to practice the songs vocally. But with laryngitis, you just are not supposed to sing too much - PERIOD. Especially if I am still in recovery.
All in all, it was not my best audition and I totally could have done better. I am not proud because I like to deliver what I can deliver to the best of my ability all the time. I have found that I more often deliver a good audition these days. In this case, however, I was not at my best and that bothers me.
What exactly were we all auditioning for? Why, to work again at the theatre! The producer gave us the opportunity to let him know what roles we would like to be considered for … it was a great and kind thing to do for us. He literally flew in to audition us and see the show. Cool, right?
Though it was an informal audition, every audition counts.
