Catch Me If You Can
Remember the movie with Leonardo? Well, apparently, they have made a musical about this show. I don’t know how I feel about that … but hey, I would love my negative reaction to be proven wrong. In general, I like hearing of new musicals being made - it doesn’t happen so often.
One thing I definitely don’t know to do with a new musical - is learn enough about the show in order to bring the correct things to the audition. I find that a lot of the breakdowns for shows are very vague. Sometimes, I will imagine a role is not good for me until I see it on the stage and say “duh!” to myself.
Right now the show will be opening out of New York. I do hope it really makes it to Broadway. I personally welcome “the new.”
The show seems promising since Nathan Lane and Christian Borle were involved in a 2007 reading of the show. A fall 2005 reading featured Matthew Morrison at Frank Abagnale, Jr.; Lane as Hanratty; Tom Wopat as Frank Abagnale, Sr.; Christine Ebersole as Paula Abagnale; Celia Keenan-Bolger as Brenda and Sara Gettelfinger as Cheryl Ann. Man, I would love to be a part of a show with these people. … not as the ensemble, but as a lead with them.
Yes, I am going to let my imagination run wild right now and imagine myself as the star of a broadway show …
